well back pressure is an issue. you need some not to much though. the ticking if it goes away with revs then you need lifters if its present a rev then your looking at possible bottom end problems. one way to discern this is to run down the road on flat ground. run it to hwy speeds, then back off the peddle a little then floor the peddle, then run a flat speed, that's not to add speed or decrease speed. if you hear something emanating at full throttle then its main bearings. if you hear something at flat throttle then its rods. or wrist pins on your pistons. hope this helps.
