I recently got a 1994 Ford Aspire. No spiffy options or anything (doesn't even have power steering. =P), just a basic car.

When I got it, the guy who had it before me kept it mechanically sound, but didn't care about the outside or inside because he was hauling around his landscaping stuff in it, so the paint job was a pale orange. A coat of polish fixed that about 95%, it's actually RED now.

But the inside was another story. NASTY on the inside. Took me 3 hours with a shop vac (that helped a LOT) and a bottle of Armor All. Looks a lot better, but I've something to ask you guys.

Does anyone have any suggestions on a relatively inexpensive way to clean off the seats and stuff?

I've never really cared about cleaning out a car before, but I'm proud of this little car and what little I've done with it so far. :)

No dents, no dings. Cost me a 100 dollar bill. Another $164 for the title transfer and plates, About $30 for new front brakes (would've been about 15, but I broke one of the pins. heh) and $220 for 4 new tires.

One of these days I'll put up pictures of it, but I don't have a camera right now, so it's kinda hard. :)

Thanks in advance for any help!

good question on the seats....I'm kinda wondering the same....Anyone have any ideas? $220 for new tires? Geez what did you put on it? 13" tires shouldn't cost that much! I put new tires mounted balanced and everything for $130. Welcome to the forums and good luck!

Hello,
If you have the time to let them dry, take the seats & the carpet out of the car. Take them to your local car wash along with a couple of bottles of Simple Green and a stiff bristled white wall brush. Put the carpet on the floor mat hangers on the wall inside the bay and sqirt them down with the Simple Green (heavier on the dirty spots), use the scub brush and brush HARD. Follow that up with the car wash brush, then use the wand on the carpet. Do the same with the seats but be careful not to get too close with the high pressure sprayer because you can easily go right through the cloth material. Use the vac @ the car wash to suck up the excess water and let them dry (YOU WILL BE AMAZED!)
If you dont have that kind of time, vac the seats as best as you can. Then use a dry tire brush and scrub them HARD. Vac them again, then use Lysol Basin Tub & Tile foaming spray. Work small sections at a time, scrubbing and wiping them down with a clean terry cloth towel. You might have to do this a couple of times to get them clean. Wait for them to dry before doing it again. I use the Lysol spray with very good results. Remember when you are scrubbing a seat or carpet, go UP DOWN, SIDE TO SIDE and in CIRCULAR MOTION. Hope to hear back from you with super clean seats. Oh yea, it also will smell really nice too!

Did you buy used or new tyres?

I just got 4 new tyres the other day too, I fitted 165/75 bridgestone tyres. Top of the line. Was going to go for 175/75 but thought it would be too heavy
Got it balanced, and a wheel alignment too, all up it was nearly 300$.

My rear seats are a mess too. But i dont have passengers so it's ok for now =]

Hello, my name is Will =]
